A Marketing Asset Management (MAM) Solution is a suite of technologies, services and print production capabilities that automate the process of ordering, producing and fulfilling requests for marketing collateral documents.
So how does this work, you ask.
At the core, the MAM solution is an online catalog (storefront) that houses all of the digital assets, images, documents that a company uses for marketing and administrative materials. With one centralized location it is easy to maintain branding standards and also update, change or replace documents as needed. Marketing (or the document owner) maintains control of the master document – which could be static or a template for special customization. Once the storefront is "stocked" with its materials users (sales reps, channel partners, distributors, local offices, etc.) log into the storefront and place their orders as needed. To place an order, well that couldn't be easier.
The storefront has all the materials available to each user – credentials are checked when the user logs on so only materials approved for that user will show in the store. Users can place orders for static materials or if needed customize a variable template to personalize for better marketing effectiveness. Next, an online proof is created; the user approves the proof and submits the order. Didn't we tell you this was easy?
Now the MAM system sends the order to us. We use digital printing technology to produce the marketing materials on an order by order basis and ship the materials where the user requested. Or, if necessary, pull from your inventory and ship. It is just that simple.
